Burntwater rugs use a bordered pattern with central terraced diamond.  Unlike Ganado rugs they are a relatively new style.  Weaver Philomena Yazzie is credited with making the first rug in 1968, using vegetal-dyed colors.  Burntwater trader Don Jacobs encouraged this style and encourage the use of more colors.  Some rugs include as many as forty colors per rug.
